Anybody who's been following the story of Russia under Vladimir Putin and the story

of pleptocracy, money laundering, murder and Vladimir Putin's wrath against his enemies

will surely know the name of Bill Browder. Bill was one of Russia's leading

foreign investors until he was kicked out of the country and a few years later, tragically

his lawyer Sergei Manitsky was killed in a Russian prison after having tried to expose

a massive fraud that was taking place in Russia. Since that time, Bill has led global campaigns

to hold Russians to account both on human rights and on money laundering and pleptocracy.

He's just published a fascinating thrilling book called Freezing Order. I'm delighted

to have Bill with us here today.

Bill, as I sort of laid out in that introduction, your name is very familiar to anyone who's

taken an interest in the Russia story. But I want to focus in on one thing because it seems

to me that this is arguably the key bit of work that you've undertaken in the past 10, 15 years

and it relates exactly to this question of pleptocracy, of money laundering,
