Joseph James DiAngelo is facing 13 homicide charges and 13 charges of kidnap with intent to rob in connection with the Golden State Killer Crime Spree.

While law enforcement believes him to be responsible for the many rapes attributed to the East Area Rapists spree, due to the statute of limitations, they cannot file rape charges.

At the time of this recording, Joseph DiAngelo has not yet

entered a plea and is awaiting trial. This case is why we lock our doors at night.

Margaret Wardlow was 13 years old in November of 1977 when she was awoken in the middle of the night

by a masked man standing over her bed, shining a flashlight in her face.

That masked man tied up Margaret with her own shoelaces and tied up Margaret's mother to ensure

she would not come to the aid of her young daughter.

He then sexually assaulted Margaret.

She became East Area Rapist Victim Number 27.

Debbie Domingo was 15 years old in July of 1981

when the Golden State Killer murdered her mother Sherry

and Sherry's boyfriend Greg Sanchez in their Santa Barbara home.

Debbie was not home at the time of the murders,

but remembers the phone call the next day from her mother's best friend,

urging Debbie to come home immediately.

Law enforcement spent 42 years hunting for the man who had attacked Margaret,

killed Sherry and Greg, sexually assaulted dozens more, and murdered 11 others, a serial

predator they called the Golden State Killer.
