| 0:00.0 | Hello and welcome back to practicing human, the podcast where every day we're getting a little better at life. |
| 0:06.0 | I'm your host, Cory Muscara, and in today's episode we're going to talk about something I call the Surrender Walk. |
| 0:13.0 | More to come on that in a moment. |
| 0:15.0 | First, let's settle in together with the sound of the bells. |
| 0:30.0 | Okay, so I want to share a practice that I've been doing that integrates well with meditation, integrates well with my spiritual practice, and integrates well with breaks throughout the day. |
| 0:50.0 | I call it the Surrender Walk. |
| 0:53.0 | And what this entails is going for a walk, but doing so with a particular orientation of letting go and receiving. |
| 1:05.0 | So if we were to put this in context, I might be at a coffee shop, taking care of work, emails, website stuff, writing, do that for a number of hours. |
| 1:17.0 | And you know, that's a lot of doing mode. It's kind of inevitable. |
| 1:22.0 | And it can create a sometimes contraction in my system, but it just keeps my mind oriented around goals and crossing things off the to-do list, which is great. |
| 1:35.0 | But it's not so much a receptive place where I'm letting new things in, where I'm really dropping in and being attuned to what's here in my life right now, and also what's next step. |
| 1:49.0 | And this is where Surrender Walk could come in, where I'm feeling a need for a break, I want some space, and I'm looking to shift gears. |
| 2:00.0 | And so what this will typically entail is just finding a place where I want to walk. |
| 2:06.0 | It doesn't have to be really quiet or in nature, but I tend to like that if it's available to me. |
| 2:12.0 | And I go into the walk with relaxation in my body and the intention to listen and to receive. |
| 2:22.0 | So there's no special initiation into the walk, I don't stop and bow or anything, or say anything. |
| 2:31.0 | I'll just start walking, and I'll notice what's going on in my body. |
| 2:35.0 | Is there still tension from work that I was doing, contraction, invite that to relax? |
| 2:41.0 | I'm not trying to be good, I'm not trying to do this well, not even trying to really pay attention. |
| 2:49.0 | Just inviting the body to soften so that I can drop into receptivity, ease, surrender. |
| 2:57.0 | And then from there, I just continue to walk. |
| 3:01.0 | And I'm just taking in whatever is arising, trusting it as data, intuition. |
