| 0:32.4 | of a disappointment for those who place their hopes or their career ambitions in the mind diet |

| 0:42.3 | But first, let's do a quick recap of the mind diet and its origins. |
| 0:47.3 | The mind diet is a combination of the Mediterranean and the dash diets, with a particular focus |
| 0:53.8 | on foods that had been previously associated with cognitive health. |
| 0:58.4 | It promotes 10 brain healthy foods and discourages five other categories of foods. |
| 1:04.7 | So you're encouraged to eat plenty of vegetables, especially the green leafy kinds, berries, |
| 1:10.8 | nuts, legumes, whole grains, fish, poultry, olive oil, and wine. |
| 1:18.3 | And the foods that you're supposed to limit are red meat, butter and margarine, pastries |
| 1:23.7 | and sweets, fried and fast food, and cheese. |

| 1:31.6 | Researchers from Rush University hypothesized that following this diet could keep your brain |
| 1:36.6 | healthier and preserve your cognitive abilities as you age, perhaps even ward off dementia |
| 1:42.5 | and Alzheimer's disease. |
| 1:44.6 | To test this theory, they reviewed dietary and medical records for almost a thousand people |
