break down a recent ice storm here in Nashville that caused major power outages around the city,

what it looks like to prepare for things you can expect

to happen, but more importantly, how to prepare for all the things we can't yet imagine.

Let's get to it. So if you watch the news about a month ago, you may have seen a major winter storm fly through the United States, which caused all kinds of fun chaos in the world of winter weather.

And part of that big winter storm was a bunch of ice.

And then ice came in the form of freezing rain and sleets and snow and chaos.

That's in the Nashville region where my wife and family and I live, we got hit with a major, major ice storm.

We've had them before.

This is not the first time, but this one was different.

This one didn't just take the power out or take the trees out.

It took everything out.

It just wiped the city of all of our potential to

function and do things for a long, long time. To keep this story fairly brief, what ultimately

happened was that the ice knocked down a bunch of trees, which knocked down power lines.

And for our home on the outskirts of Nashville, we lost power for three days.

Now, that's the longest by far we've ever had a power outage here.

Prior to that was about eight hours or so.

We do lose power quite a bit here because there are so many trees, but this was the longest
