Hey, welcome to Crossroads, folks. Look, a landmark case right now at the Supreme Court could actually determine what a gun is.

And notably this could impact the future of what they call ghost guns.

Now, basically, this is right now in front of the Supreme Court of the United States and it

focuses again on these so-called ghost guns.

These are guns you can basically make on your own, right?

You can buy kits, you can buy lowers and buy the parts for them and build guns that are

essentially non-traceable.

Now first on this case, this is Garland v. Vanderstock,

and it revolves around a bureau of alcohol, tobacco, and firearms, and explosives, ATF, rule,

that what they did basically is they redefined what a firearm is,

so that, you know know partially completed gun frames in

different parts they call them ghost guns are considered firearms in other

words if you buy a lower which is like the lower part where like kind of the

trigger is close to that area you can basically you know you know, you used to build a buy them, they now

define those as guns and because they define those parts as guns, if you buy one

online, it's regulated in the same way as buying a normal firearm. And if you were to

take one to manufacture it, you face actually pretty serious charges.

It used to not be that way.

There's other parts too, especially for like pistols that also have similar things.

They regulate them as if they were firearms.

Now look, basically the way this worked, the ATF took actions to ban ghost guns. And back in December

2022, it sent an open letter to all federal firearms licensees where it created a ghost gun ban
