| 1:03.8 | which is the US census. Today, the Supreme Court heard oral arguments in a case that |
| 1:09.6 | involves the census. But before we get into exactly what the arguments were about, |
| 1:15.2 | let's go back to the very beginning. What is the census, Hansi? It's a head count. |
| 1:21.0 | It's a head count of every person living in the country. And it's done every 10 years. |
| 1:27.6 | And it goes literally back to the founding of our country because this is in the Constitution. |
| 1:32.8 | Article 1, Section 2 calls for, here we go, a walkie-term, actual enumeration. That's the census |
| 1:39.0 | we're talking about. And that's an important word enumeration because it's about the whole, |
| 1:44.9 | says, quote, the whole number of persons in each state. This is not just about citizens in the |
| 1:50.4 | country. They want to get all of the people in the country. How many of them actually are there? |
| 1:55.8 | So like every 10 years, you get a form or someone comes to your house and they want you to answer |
| 2:02.8 | a bunch of questions, right? What is sort of the standard census question? |
