He is an author, activist, scholar, lecturer, and journalist. For more than 40 years, he has written about and been active in national and international human rights, anti-racism politics, Diaspora engagements, U.S. foreign policy, democracy building, and social justice issues such as education, criminal justice, and voting rights. He earned his B.A. from Wayne State University, and both his Masters and Ph.D. from Howard University in Political Science. His most recent book is The Black History of the White House.

1:45.0	people who are guilty of, well, seemingly the crime of looting.
1:49.0	And that's what is missing from these hearings,
1:52.0	a discussion of race and how racism
1:53.8	fueled the hatred on display that day. The inequality in the way that the media
1:58.8	uses race when they report on events.
2:02.8	Despite President Trump's years of race-bating, which date too long before he ever ran for
2:07.4	president, racism was apparently not an issue to the January 6th committee, but it seemed like a major issue to the people who were involved in January 6th.
2:17.0	It's just weird that the Commission didn't really discuss the role of racism and what it played and the rise of the far right and its flirtation
