But before I go ahead and introduce her, I want to let you all know what we're going to be talking about.

Our topic today is about sexual abuse among youth.

And I do want to give a trigger warning.

So we are going to be talking about specifically children who have experienced sexual abuse within their families or with a stranger.

But this episode is going to focus on what children experience, what the family experiences, and what to do with that information.

So this content, the details of it, especially when we talk about the perpetrators, might be

triggering for sexual abuse survivors. If you experience this as a child yourself, this can be

ahead and start off with a statistic. Every 73 seconds, an American

is sexually assaulted. And this information comes from rain. If you've heard other episodes that I have

a bit of a thing with data in the sense that it excludes many of our undocumented folks. So the statistic is most likely higher because

of unreported cases. So the full statistic is every 73 seconds and American is sexually assaulted.
