my sticker gives a hint at what we were talking about. We are talking about civic duty. My sticker

says I voted. It's the sticker that they give you when you vote. So we are going to talk today

about civic duty, how the tutor saw civic duty, and how that

changed throughout the 16th century because it did change quite a bit because of the

reformation. So like the reformation changed everything. It cannot be exaggerated how important the Reformation was. So when we think

about civic duty today, we think about voting, paying taxes, or participating in local government,

school board, etc. In Tudor England, civic duty looked quite different. It wasn't just about

supporting the nation. It was actually tied to your

place in the social hierarchy, a strict class system that shaped every aspect of daily life.

For the tutors, civic duty was deeply intertwined with loyalty to the crown, community responsibilities,

and most importantly, your religion.

Each social class, the nobility, the gentry, the urban middle class, which was growing during

that time, and the peasantry, had unique obligations and expectations. For some, civic duty meant Manageeelands or serving the king. For some, civic duty meant Managic lands or serving the king. For others, it was
