Okay, when my parents began

separating and eventually divorcing

summer of 1966, sort of late spring early summer, I needed to escape from the

reality of being ripped out of our home and having to move and my dad

being shipped off and all that. So my mother had, you know, thank God, loads of

science fiction books in the house because I already read it through all of the

hardy boys and my sisters Nancy Drew so I needed something to read and I got through most of her science fiction

and it was adult stuff and I was 12 but in that

summer's fall preview guide for TV guide there was a blurb for a new science

vision series called Star Trek and I was already watching Lost in Space and Boys to the bottom of the sea so I was certainly ready for another science fiction series.
