In Disney Story Origins episode 5, I'll be discussing the Disney film Aladdin based on

Aladdin or his magical lamp, which is one of many small stories within a large Middle

Eastern story called

one thousand and one nights better known to us Westerners as the

Arabian Nights. It's the story of a young woman named Shahadasad

who every night tells a story to her husband to keep him from killing her.

I thought it would be a cool story to tell, so I told it in the introduction of episode 5A,

Aladdin Part 1, sort of to give you some context, but also to kind of encourage you guys to read the Arabian Nights if you haven't.

It's got some great and very famous stories.

But Aladdin Part 1 is a pretty long episode without me shoehorning a completely

different story into it. So I took the story of Shahadasad out of Episode 5A, but since it's Shahizad who tells the story of Aladdin and I think her story is pretty cool,

and since it's already recorded, edited, and mixed and ready to go,

I'll tell it to you in this supplemental episode to wet your appetite for

episode and to tide you over until that one drops. So without further ado

here is the story of Shahatazah. There were these two kings, brothers, and they both ruled individually over their

own lands and both governed justly and enjoyed the love and

loyalty of their subjects.

The eldest was named King Shariar, and his younger brother was called Shah Zaman.

For ten years, both of them reigned well over their kingdoms living pleasant and untroubled lives.
