And with Jeff Leby comes the promise of touchdowns and offense and explosive plays and things. Mississippi State fans didn't get to see much of this past football season, really these

past few football seasons.

And if you were to ask me before this search started, what should Mississippi State be looking for in a head coach?

I would say that Jeff Levy checks a lot of boxes for you.

Obviously, not a sitting head coach, and I thought that was important for Mississippi State,

but once it became obvious the top targets there, we're going to stay put or we're not going to take the Mississippi State job,

then Jeff Levy was probably the best option there amongst the coordinators.

I didn't think state wanted to go defense again.

I think they really wanted to put a focus on offense, on excitement.
