Ginny, let's kick off with you because you've been looking at the important issue of

mosquitoes and how to get rid of them.

Yes, well, this was a really interesting paper that suggests that mosquitoes might become less sensitive to a commonly used repellent known as

Diet if you continually expose them to it. So Diet's been shown in various studies to

repel 100% of mosquitoes, but this new study, which was published in Plus 1, suggests that if you expose the same mosquito to the chemical more than once, it temporarily reduces the insect aversion to it.

Oh, do they actually know why the mosquitoes should become less sensitive?

Well they suggest it might be to do with a process called sensory adaptation or a relative phenomenon known as habituation.

So this is something that occurs in humans as well.
