Welcome to the program today. Mondo Gonzalez here in studio with Dr. James DeYoung, and he has a brand new book out,

Supernatural Encounters, Divine and Demonic, and this is going to be a great program where we're going to discuss some interesting things that not only what we see in the Bible, but also in the real world. So welcome. Here we are. Thank you, Mondo. It's a pleasure to be here today. And so, you know, for those in our audience that might not know you or your background, kind of

give us a little bio of what you've been doing.

Well, I grew up in Illinois, went to a Bible school of Moody in Chicago, went on to a

seminary at Talbot and went on to earn the doctorate at Dallas Seminary, went to the

northwest where Pat and I, my wife, had not ever been before and began our teaching career

at Multnomah School of the Bible and after four years was invited to come to Western Seminary

in the same town, Portland, Oregon, and I was there for 40 years and retired about nine years ago.

Wow, this is great.

That's a whole summer.

That's a good summary.

It's fascinating because I had applied to Multnomah.

I grew up there and I was looking to go to Western, so this is really fun to come.

You may have been my student.

I could have been there, absolutely.

And so you've had a very

academic career. Yes. And I think, which is, which is fascinating because many people,

when I think about academics or professors or whatever, they often will move beyond the idea that, oh, no, supernatural,

or move beyond the supernatural in that sense. And many of them will get drawn into, you know,

again, I don't believe any of that stuff. You know, I'm too sophisticated for that. So in your journey, what makes you not one of those?

I think I can clearly say that I've wanted to have my heart open to whatever the Lord would

have me do and how to teach and what I'd emphasize in my teaching. I used to sing on the way to school
