What is it all about?

The amount of data that we have to store,

to give it the kind of long-term memory

that your college buddy has of you,

is a trivial amount of, you know,

it's a few megabytes of data.

I can store everything you ever said to your buddy

if I wrote it, if I transcribed it into text.

It's like a few megabytes of data, and I can just store it and have it available.

And it'll have better memory than you or I have.

And this week, we are talking about what else AI.

Specifically, though, we're talking about perhaps the single biggest problem that these systems

have, which is that they make things up or in the parlance of the industry, they hallucinate.

They can make up just very confidently say things about, you know, people, facts, whatever,

that are just completely false.

And this is a massive issue because tools like chat, GPT,

are proliferating really at an extraordinary speed,

invading all kinds of industries and taking on tasks from therapy and software coding

to financial advisory and, as you will soon hear, education.
