It was a very eventful election day yesterday

There were wins there were losses for most everybody.

Having been around elections for a very long time,

over a quarter of a century, I have learned to be, if not dispassionate about it because I'm not, I care deeply.

I have learned to take the long road and realize that some races you hope to win, you desperately want to lose, and some races you're going to win, you're going to lose, and some

races you're going to win and they're going to give you the greatest sense of elation.

And in the process, the challenge is to not get too high or too low.

So that's how I would describe last night.

There was some fantastic wins

and some disappointing losses.

But my takeaway from the night

is that it was a good night, particularly on the Republican side, especially on the Republican side, it was a good night actually exclusively on the Republican side. It was a good night, actually exclusively on the Republican

side. It was a good night for citizen activism. It was a bad night for the

swamp in Texas.

It was a bad night for the swamp in DC.

And it was a good night for good government, or certainly better government.

The overarching idea is, you can tell people who's got the power. You can parade around the capital in

Austin, Texas or Washington, D.C. especially in Austin, Texas, you can parade around as if you have the power.

The lobbyists can tell you you have the power.

But God help you when you've got to go back to those voters. God help you

when the deals you've cut have to be explained to the voters. When you got to go back to Liberty, Texas and the neighbors of
