thank you for being here it's the Armstrong and getty show jack is off today he is shaperoning a multi-day school field trip with his youngster

which is just fabulous stuff I hope they're having a good time a lot of good stuff to come this hour including a conversation with Tim Sandfer

vice president for litigation the gold water institute Tim the lawyers been a long time friend of the Armstrong and getty show

and there are a couple of topics I'd like to talk to Tim about both the case that he and the gold water institute are working on

and also a topic that we've been hitting on the last couple of days on the show and that is the astonishing set of policies that are being implemented in school districts around the country openly and proudly advocating race-based grading

so stay with us for that Tim Sandfer joins us Tim how are you sir I'm just fine thanks for having me back

absolutely yeah I I forgot to go through the library of books you have authored including a couple of my faves Frederick Douglass self-made man I I

mentioned when we were talking about the the grading thing that if Frederick Douglass was alive and it heard about this sort of stuff I think he would have waited in the school board meeting

and perpetrated acts of verbal if not physical violence against the racist but he would have been totally outraged by the idea that we should lower our expectations for people

and that as of as some sort of favor to them it would have been outrageous he's right right indeed Tim's other books the ascent of Jacob Brunowski cornerstone of liberty property rights in the 21st century

America co-authored with his lovely and brilliant wife and your new book of poetry is out to what's a remind me of the title it's called some notes on the silence excellent executive producer yes

yes part it's kind of inspired by the atmosphere of political correctness and and people's fear of saying things less they be taken out of context and and cancelled and things

like that that's part of what inspired the my that book all good you know I'm sure you're busy but I spent 45 minutes of the last hour talking about and

through Jonathan Heights piece why the past 10 years of American life have been uniquely stupid have you did you get a chance to look

at that I did glimpse there yes and it's totally true totally yes it's absolutely brilliant and has not only you know a lot of

significance as we look at social media and and the electronic world we built to your point about words and viciousness and the rest of it but

also you know it's a nice little mirror to to examine when our passions get the better of us but but Joe you know I like to try to insert some optimism you're here's the

good side to things is that in addition to social media and things kind of degenerating toward the lowest common denominator it also allows us to connect with other people in ways that we never

used to be able to do I just I have discovered in just the past year I've discovered new writers and new musicians and things through social media that I never
