the Super Bowl is this weekend.

It is a sporting event that I pay zero attention to,

but contains a section in the middle that is one of the most talks about pop events of the year,

the halftime show, and there's been lots

of memorable ones for reasons good and bad. They're usually a huge cornerstone in a pop star's

career. In the pop pantheon, we talk about whether or not a pop star is able to or has headline

the Super Bowl as one of the criteria for where they end up in the Pantheon.

So it all feels really relevant.

And I thought it might be nice to do an entire extravaganza episode devoted to Super Bowl

halftime performances over the last many decades.

This year's halftime show is Dr. Dre and Friends, M&M, Snoop Dog, Mary J. Blyge, Kendrick Lamar, and I'm assuming more special guests.

So it actually seems like a bit of a turning point in terms of like these being showcases for individual pop stars careers.
