Welcome to the Deconstructionist podcast. I'm your host John Williamson, and I'm coming to you from my self-imposed quarantine here.

0:19.6

As many of you are as well, I am trying to do my best to

0:24.9

social distance and to stay at home as much as I can. I'm trying to do my part to help slow the

0:31.2

spread of COVID-19. I know many of you out there have been hit really hard by the shutdowns and the steps that states have had to take to help slow the spread and to help lessen the burden on the health care system.

0:49.9

So my heart goes out to those of you have been hit the hardest. I have a lot of friends and family and folks that I know in the community whose jobs have been impacted far beyond mine.

1:06.4

I'm very lucky and fortunate in the fact that I can work from home.

1:10.5

But many out there, you know, their industry or, you know, whatever their job happens to be,

1:17.6

you know, a lot of those have had to close down.

1:20.8

A lot of those have been at the very least limited, especially the food, food industry.

1:30.4

So my heart just goes out to you guys.

1:39.2

And so hang in there. Hopefully we will return to some level of normalcy soon. But you never know.

1:45.0

These are, this is uncharted territory. Definitely the strangest thing that I've seen in my lifetime. And so,

1:51.5

um, so again, my heart goes out to those of you who have been, uh, impacted the most by this. So, uh, with that being said, uh, I bet a lot of you are wondering why we have an episode

1:58.5

coming out, uh, on a Saturday evening, which is unusual for us.

2:02.6

Usually we release Tuesday nights, Monday or rather Wednesday mornings.

2:07.7

Well, because I have nothing better to do but then to scroll through the files on my computer

2:14.3

right now as I'm stuck in my apartment. I've found some files based on a project

2:20.1

that Adam and I had started with grand intentions several years ago, as we often do. We have lots

2:28.8

of great ideas and less time to do them in. So this was one that we were tentatively calling the Sunday sermon series.

2:36.6

And the idea behind it was we were going to record famous sermons that, you know,

2:42.0

from throughout history and then mix in some originals that we wrote, you know,

2:47.4

just as kind of a fun thing that we would release, you know, once every other weekend or once a weekend for a period of time until we ran out.
