Summary

“When sinners leave the service of Satan and the friendship of the world, that they make peace with God and join Israel, they must not marvel if the world hate them, if their former friends become foes. By such methods Satan discourages many who are convinced of their danger, and almost persuaded to be Christians, but fear the cross. These things should quicken us to [ask] God for protection, help, and deliverance.” -Matthew Henry

Amen. This morning we're continuing with our sermon series through the book of Joshua.

0:04.7

Our text for today is going to be Joshua chapter 10 verses 1 through 15. I'm going to read the first

0:10.7

five verses Joshua 10 versus 1 through 5 from the outset. And I'm going to allow that to be the

0:17.7

particular verses that we stand in order to show reverence to the word of God

0:22.0

as he's revealed himself. So would you join me in standing out? I'll read these first five verses

0:26.3

and then as we work through the sermon, we'll deal with the remainder of the text, verses 6 through

0:31.3

15. So the text that I'll be reading right here from the outset again is Joshua chapter 10

0:36.9

verses 1 through 5. When I finish reading the text, I'll say this right here from the outset again is Joshua chapter 10 verses 1 through 5.

0:38.4

When I finish reading the text, I'll say this is the word of the Lord,

0:41.6

at which point I would appreciate very much if you would respond by saying,

0:45.3

thanks be to God.

0:46.4

One final time, Joshua 10, 1 through 5, the Bible says this.

0:52.1

As soon as Adonai Zedic, king of Jerusalem heard how Joshua had captured A.I.

0:58.9

And had devoted it to destruction, doing to A.I. and its king as he had done to Jericho and its king.

1:06.2

And how the inhabitants of Gibian had made peace with Israel and were among them, he feared greatly,

1:13.2

because Gibbon was a great city, like one of the royal cities, and because it was greater

1:19.3

than A.I., and all its men were warriors. So Adonai Zeta, king of Jerusalem, sent to Holm,

1:27.4

king of Hebron, to Pyrrham, king of Jarmouth,

1:31.6

to Jephiah, king of Lakish, and to Deber, king of Eglon, saying,

1:39.7

Come up to me and help me and let us strike Gibbonan, for it has made peace with Joshua and with the

1:46.6

people of Israel. Then the five kings of the Amirites, the king of Jerusalem, the king of Hebron,

1:53.5

the king of Jarmu, the king of Lekesh, and the king of Eglong gathered their forces and went up
