I want to spend the next several weeks talking about prayer. It's one of my favorite topics because it's one of our greatest privileges.

I want you to think about the most famous person you know. What would happen if

you tried to get an audience with them? Do you know someone who knows someone? What are the chances

that you get a one-on-one meeting with them? I would say pretty slim. Yet the one who put the stars in

place knows your name. The one who merely spoke and the heavens came to be

invite you into the throne room. The inner courts of Almighty God. I can never get over it. I'm in

perpetual awe of it. When Jesus gave up his spirit on that cross, the earth trembled,

and the veil tore in two. That veil was the boundary for the priest to come into the

holy of holies. Suddenly it was tore, top to bottom. And we now have access to the throne room of Almighty God. Do you know how much

that should change our lives? You Christians run to and fro, seeking answers from inferior sources,

you know, drinking out of muddy puddles when we have a stream of living water available to us.

The late Jennifer Kennedy Dean wrote this about prayer.

Prayer is the means by which you'll be freed from your earthbound, time-bound thinking to

participate in eternity. True prayer releases his power so that his power can accomplish

immeasurably more than we can ask or imagine.

What's sad to me is that many, many Christians are going to get to heaven and realize that though they were saved, they never understood or lived in true freedom.

They lived in constant reaction to their issues and their insecurities.

They never shook free from the constant sins that plague them. They live far beneath their

spiritual privilege because they never looked up to firmly grab hold of God's promises or the

identity that Jesus won for them. The truth is God loves these precious souls,
