And I'm super excited today to talk to you about daring to pray God's promises. We're doing a series on prayer. One of my all-time favorite topics. And for those who often ask, where is this content? And let's talk about this idea that you're anchored to God and how to pray God's promises.

And hopefully you've listened to my show long enough and read my books long enough to know my heart.

But if you don't, and you haven't, I'm not at all talking, name it, claim it,

and I will say right now, God is not a means to an end.

He is the beginning and the end.

And so we don't approach him in a transactional way.

Like the only reason we have a relationship with him is so we can get what we want from him.

My goodness, I have walked with him long enough to say, and I've said it for years,

any gift from his hand pales in comparison to the treasure of knowing his heart.

Golly, the more I get to know him, he is better than life, as the scriptures say.

His presence, his love, his patience, he is the source of life. And his gifts are gifts, aren't they?

But he's the greatest gift. And yet, he invites us to contend for the promises of God. He invites us to

stand on the promises of God. In fact, scripture says, make every effort to respond to the

promises of God. It says all of his promises are backed by the honor of his name and that all of his

promises are yes and amen. I once heard a pastor say

that the Israelites didn't get everything God promised them. They only got that which they fought for.

They didn't get to the promised land because they didn't contend for it until the right generation did

until they learned some things from their ancestors and follow

with Joshua and finally got into the promised land. So there's a way to walk humbly with God,

but to be bold and confident, not entitled, not demanding, and God's a good enough father

...
