Say, won't he do it? Yes, he will. Welcome to Susie Larson Live Sunday edition, where you and I just snuggle up and cozy up with a cup of something. We lean in and we talk about Jesus. And I'm super excited today to talk to you about daring to pray God's promises. We're doing a series on prayer. One of my all-time favorite topics. And for those who often ask, where is this content? Where can I find it? It's in my book, Your Powerful Prayers, Reaching the Heart of God with a Bold and Humble Faith.

0:42.6

And let's talk about this idea that you're anchored to God and how to pray God's promises.

0:47.7

And hopefully you've listened to my show long enough and read my books long enough to know my heart.

0:52.6

But if you don't, and you haven't, I'm not at all talking, name it, claim it,

0:56.9

and I will say right now, God is not a means to an end.

1:00.5

He is the beginning and the end.

And so we don't approach him in a transactional way.

1:06.0

1:31.8

His presence, his love, his patience, he is the source of life. And his gifts are gifts, aren't they?

1:39.6

But he's the greatest gift. And yet, he invites us to contend for the promises of God. He invites us to

1:48.1

stand on the promises of God. In fact, scripture says, make every effort to respond to the

1:52.9

promises of God. It says all of his promises are backed by the honor of his name and that all of his

1:59.1

promises are yes and amen. I once heard a pastor say

2:03.4

that the Israelites didn't get everything God promised them. They only got that which they fought for.

2:10.3

They didn't get to the promised land because they didn't contend for it until the right generation did

2:15.1

until they learned some things from their ancestors and follow

2:19.0

with Joshua and finally got into the promised land. So there's a way to walk humbly with God,

2:24.8

but to be bold and confident, not entitled, not demanding, and God's a good enough father
