Summary

Our week in Sheboygan comes to an end with an American rout at the Ryder Cup. This recap episode is once again live from the Bixby Bus. It begins with a “thanks” to Mr. Kohler, a call back to an amusing inside nugget that started the week. Then it’s on to the takeaways from the victorious and dominant American side, and the defeated and battered European side. Andy talks about going back out to watch Westy play the 18th to “bring the old warhorse into the barn.” Brendan talks about going out to watch Rory and what the emotion that poured out of the European side meant for both this cup and going forward. They caution about all the grand pronouncements on what these three days means for the next several Cups, and also reiterate why it’s the best event in golf. They also debate who we’ll see again in Italy, and much more from another week on the ground. This episode, along with all of the episodes from Wisconsin, are supported by Bixby Coffee, where new Shotgun Start pitcher packs are live to go with the trusty SGS blend and Westy Island blend.

Now the shotgun's starting golf is full of mathematics, there's a lot of a lot of setup work that we have to do in order to make a tournament work, so I'm going to demonstrate to you just exactly how we do a shotgun start here.

And here we go.

All right, all right, all right.

Ladies and gentlemen, start your engine!

Greetings and welcome to a Monday edition of the shotgun start. It is September 27th. Andy, how are we doing?

0:43.0

Brendan, I'm doing great. Order is restored. What does that mean?

0:48.0

The United States is victorious in the rider cup. You know, finally the more talented team won for, you know.

0:57.0

Order is restored. Order, the US winning is order. That's how the order should be. Really?

1:03.0

They're better.

1:04.0

I keep away from this night thinking like this is a European event and like when the Americans are merely interlopers when they win.

1:12.0

I don't think it means as much. I'm not saying it doesn't mean anything. I was just, I don't know. It was a big takeaway.

1:18.0

It was this team that just got its ass kicked, you know, in tears and talking about how great the week, you know, the experiences they had.

1:25.0

We will go into it later, but yeah, all right, orders are stored. Okay.

1:30.0

This is our last episode from the Bixby Boss by the way. We're wrapping up here Sunday night. I said it was Monday.

1:35.0

What are you going to say?

1:36.0

This team was so much better than the European team. I mean, they ran rough shot over them.

1:41.0

It was not really close ever. It was never the case of, hey, if this, if this match had flipped or this putt had gone in, there was none of that.

1:52.0

I never, ever felt like they were close to victory that they got. They only victory, like very few went to 18.

2:01.0

And listen, like they're a better team. I think we can't make any huge declarations about the next era of dominance because they have not won.

2:13.0

They have not won in Europe. Now will be 30 years. So until they do that, we can't talk about like is this going to be a dominant run?

2:21.0

And two years is frankly a very, very long time.

2:25.0

Yeah. Well, we'll get into that. We should first note. This has been a fantastic week in the Bixby Boss.
