I think my summertime toy, my dad would not get us that, but he would always get us. Do you remember the balsa wood airplanes? Had a little red propeller. You wind it up with the rubber band. Those mophos flew pretty well, man. And looking back, I realize how pathetic these toys were, but I cannot explain how much fun and how many hours my brother and I wasted with those balsawood planes. So it wasn't pathetic, man. That's exactly what it was supposed to. It's not that. I'm just, what I'm saying it's pathetic. What I picture is, I give this as a gift to my children. And the look they would probably give me, like, is that it? Is there more? There were some really cool RC racing cars. Never had one.

Most of these things were tethered. So you could get an airplane. It was gas powered. Right, but it's still on a line. And basically you just spun around in a circle while this thing flew. If you did it right, the most disgusted, I have ever seen my father with my brother. My brother was a very good kid. He's a very good good man he's a very good adult the coordination was not necessarily his forte so for his birthday i believe it was

someone got in one of those planes right it's on the tether but you had to put it together

and my brother was little too young to do that so my father spent a couple of hours and back then

nothing snapped on everything you know used the glue you had to wait for it to So we're getting excited. It takes like two days to put this thing together. It's on the tether, and my father drags my brother up to the local school in the parking lot at summertime. And literally, all you have to do as a human being is spinning a circle, right? You press the button, the propeller goes, the plane's going to take off no matter what

1:30.2

you do.

1:30.8

And then you just kind of, you spin in a circle, you hold it, yeah, you hold it, and you spin

1:35.0

in a circle.

1:35.6

So my dad's doing this for a little bit.

1:37.4

And again, I don't know that there's an easier thing to control, all right?

1:41.3

But my dad's having fun.

1:42.6

So he does it for like 10 solid minutes. He lands the thing, which is a little trick here, but he manages to land it. He hands it to my brother, and my brother's ready to go. Keep in mind, my brother's the smart one. I don't know how he did this, but this whole thing lasted maybe seven seconds. He presses the button, the propeller starts. The plane goes straight up in the air. He does not spin and comes straight back down on the ground. Dude, explodes. It was his maiden flight. Seriously, it went up in the air, it smashed. My father was so goddamn angry. And he didn't want to freak out. But he was so pissed. My brothers in tears. I thought it was kind of funny just because my dad had spent days putting this thing together. And I mean, Maiden Flight, it was done. So we're walking home. My brother's kind of trailing behind us because my dad's pissed, but he's not mad at me. So I'm like, cool. My brother's about 10, 15 feet behind us. We walk in the door. My mother's in kitchen she's, why are you guys back already? And my father lost his mind. I mean, it was just brutal. My first, my first, uh, airplane toy. So in the center court of, of the mall in my hometown, that's kind of where they would do their concerts. They had those or any kind of like if they had a card show or whatever.

2:52.2

Tell me you had the big styrofoam play.

2:53.7

I did.

2:54.1

Yes.

2:54.6

So I walk into the mall, right? And there's this dude. And he's got a huge. And Mike, I know you probably have never seen these and don't know what it is. But it's this big-ass styrofoam play, okay? And it honestly had like a five-foot wingspan.

3:06.8

It was not tiny.

3:07.6

It was big and you stuck the styrofoam wings into the body.

3:11.5

Okay. And it honestly had like a five-foot wingspan. It was not tiny.

3:07.6

It was big and you stuck the styrofoam wings into the body of it.

3:11.5

Okay.

3:11.8

And you put the tail on the back. Is any of those ringing the bell for you, Mike? I mean, I feel like I saw a giant styrofoam plane at one point. Okay. So this guy, to me, is a magician. He is a wizard because the plane kind of acts like a boomerang.
