Summary

It’s all happening! In our first episode, Nerdette co-hosts Greta Johnsen and Tricia Bobeda bring in a friend to play Frack, Marry Kill with three summer TV shows: Maron, Newsroom and Family Tree. Julie Shapiro of the Third Coast International Audio Festival talks about her piece in Transom that digs into why so few women host podcasts. And our intern has a rage-fueled list of things she’s worried may be Zooey Deschanel’s fault. http://nerdettepodcast.com See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.

artistic director of the Third Coast International Audio Festival about a piece she wrote for Transom

about the shockingly low number of podcasts hosted by women. And our intern, Claire, has a lot of feelings about some trends that may or may not be

New Girl star Zoe Day Chanel's fault.

And we'll play frack Mary Kill with three summer TV shows.

But before we do that, Greta, you had a lot of feelings in our first mini episode where

0:49.6

we nerded out hard about Arrested Development coming back, and I'm guessing now you've watched

0:53.0

it all?

0:53.8

You know, I did this weird consumption strategy where I watched the first eight and then I watched

1:01.6

the first eight again and then I watched the second six and then I watched now I'm watching

1:08.8

the second six again and I'm saving the last episode for after I've seen everything else twice. Okay. That matches my expectations for how weird your consumption of the show would be. But how are you feeling about it? I'm feeling really good about it. I think I did a bad thing as I watched it. Oh, why? Well, you mean, you know how some diets have a cheat day? Yeah. And so some people can handle that.

1:27.4

They're like, oh, I'll have a little more avocado on my thing that day. Right, but then there's people who's like, I'm going to eat the cake. Right. Well, I consumed a rest of development like the people who eat the whole cake on the cheat day. And so it made me a little sick. I got a little Jason and Bateman fatigue. I was so worried about spoilers that I sort of flew through the episodes and I don't think I enjoyed them as much. So if you have been taking your time, well done, that is the best way to watch them, I'm sure, because I got a little stressed out by too much George Sr., too much Michael. Not enough buster. I can totally relate to that. And as I'm sure you can imagine, I also have a lot more feelings about arrested development. So you can check out our website, nerdatpodcast.com. There's a blog post there about it. But now it is time for Freck, Mary, Kill. That's frack for all you Battlestar Galactica fans. And the game works like this. Surrey, marry, boff, kill.

2:18.6

Lutz, Tufur, or Kenneth?

2:22.8

I'd marry Tufor because he's classy.
