It's Tuesday, August 3rd. Summer vacations are heating up, so whether you're planning on hitting the road or having a staycation,

we'll give you an update on all things summer travel. Let's dive in.

What's your dream vacation? Is it a trip to the beach? A cabin in the mountains. What about a trip to the city? Or maybe it's a sleepover at a friend's house or even a backyard camping adventure with your family.

If your dream vacation requires travel, let's be honest. Travel during the pandemic has been tough.

Yep. COVID has hit the travel industry hard. Last summer, flights were canceled, seats stayed empty, and camps were closed.

Bummer. This year, more people felt optimistic about traveling.

Woohoo! Though, the biggest trends in vacationing this year do look different from summer's past.

Instead of going to the big city or a swanky resort, families are traveling within driving distance and

opting for the great outdoors.

The national parks especially have seen a surge of visitors this year with long lines and overcrowding.

As far as international destinations,

some countries have opened their borders this summer.

Last week, England, Scotland, and Wales

announced that people from the U.S. and the EU who are vaccinated

do not need to quarantine.

Awesome.

And in the United States,

because of the dangers of the Delta variant, a contagious strain of the virus spreading around the world, officials have extended its border closings for many travelers from countries around the globe, including our neighbors, Canada, and Mexico.

Oh, man.
