Summary
There are few things more policed in life than sex and sexuality. For lots of trans folks, learning to embrace themselves as sexual beings is a journey all its own. But it can also be healing and affirming. In this pursuit of pleasure and liberation, many trans folks embrace kink, and that’s something we wanted to explore on the show this week. So we invited BDSM educator and sex worker advocate Ze R to talk about kink, gender, and what it looks like to embrace your kinky side as a trans person.

| 0:19.4 | That's right. |
| 0:20.1 | S-E-X. As a matter of fact, it's |
| 0:22.4 | kind of essential to all life, or mostly all life. And as we come up on the summer, we know |
| 0:28.7 | that many of you will transform this one, like last year, into a summer of sex. That time when |

| 0:37.9 | worst of the winter and the Omicron wave and all of the other things that come along with being cooped up, |
| 0:44.0 | even though that we're in a pandemic, we know that people are still going to stretch their legs, |
| 0:48.1 | let's just say, and find a way to engage in sexual exploration and expression. So we wanted to devote an entire episode to that. |
| 0:57.9 | Since the beginning of our community, sex for us is a political act. It's not only physical or even |
| 1:04.5 | emotional or spiritual, but it is also political and therefore is inherently tied to our liberation. |
| 1:10.6 | That's going to be the prism |
| 1:11.8 | through which we examine it today, which is really exciting for me. I know that personally |
| 1:16.5 | speaking, sex changed as I transitioned, as I've said on this podcast before, and it was |
| 1:23.1 | really essential to my coming into myself. And that's true for so many people who are trans and we are excited. |
| 1:30.9 | Now, I have to say that this has been one of the hardest episodes for our team to produce. |
| 1:35.1 | It's taking us months to find the right mix of people and people who wanted to come on, but |
| 1:40.2 | we've gotten there. |
| 1:41.5 | That's why we're thrilled to present our conversation with ZR, who is a BDSM expert, practitioner, |
| 1:48.5 | and educator. |
