I'm recording at about 1150 p.m. on Saturday night, I was not able to get around to,

0:50.2

I wanted to like actually sit down and watch the game last night and I had to like, I went through it. And then by the time that I got through all the work I did on the first game, the second game was up. I always forget how quickly some early games come and go. So this is got to recap the first two summer league games on from the Denver Nuggets this weekend in Vegas. On no jinx on Sunday night, Ryan Blackburn, I'll get in the more big picture stuff. We'll talk about the Peyton Watson stuff. And I'll get Ryan's thoughts on Summer League as well. A quicker show here today. So it's just going to be one of those like 10, 15 minute episodes depending on how long I prattle a lot about these guys. First off, the big headline from Nuggets Summer League is obviously Bryce Hopkins. You have to start there. And he had another phenomenal game in the second game and the Nuggets win over the Minnesota Timberwell, 6 and 13 from the field for 16.7 rebounds, two assists. Hopkins just continues to really shine in terms of his ability. The combination of size and handle is really exciting for him. And he's been able to

1:44.2

really bring something to the table that has a lot of Nuggets fans, I think, really feeling kind

1:48.1

of excited about this team and what it's capable of and what this guy and what he can bring

1:53.6

to the table. Like, Swipe is very excited about him. I think some of the other media members

1:58.1

are really excited about it. It makes sense because, you know, he's had back-to-back really good performances for this Nuggets team, including in the opener as well. So like I totally get that. I'm not trying to be, I understand I'm always kind of described this way. I'm really not trying to be contrary when I just say like, I have some concerns a little bit that I'll get into, but I think Hopkins ability to get downhill. One thing I think is most impressive about him is is the control that he has at that size to be able to beat his man and then get to a combination of moves to where he can get to push shots and like, like small floaters and then also the power moves underneath the basket. Like he's got such control. Those are really promising things. And those are things that a lot of players in summer league don't have, like they're too young to understand it. And they just don't have that kind of control over the game. And the first game, he had 24 points on 9 or 13 shooting four boards, three steals and two blocks. I love the defense from him. I think Hopkins has actually played better on defense than he has on offense.

My concern is that with Hopkins,

3:03.2

he feels very much to me like the kind of player that shines in Summer League play

3:06.4

because so many guys are not physically able to compete at that level um summer league having gone to it for god i've

3:12.5

gone i've gone to i think 10 summer leagues um the combination of players there is really difficult

3:21.3

nobody has played together at all. That's what causes problems

3:25.8

for guards. What causes problems for the forwards is that there are 24 year olds and 27 year olds
