I'm Caleb Bissinger, and this is a special episode of the next big idea.

0:08.1

Every summer when I was a kid, I used to make a bucket list of all the things I wanted

0:12.6

to do before I went back to school.

0:14.5

And the list would change from year to year, but there were always two constants.

1:16.2

It was also a chance to escape my un-air conditioned house

1:19.5

and spend a few hours in the cinema's cool darkness.

1:23.2

So going to a game and going to the movies.

1:26.8

To me, those are the essential summertime activities.

1:31.0

And that's why I wanted to talk with filmmaker and retired ball player Ron Shelton,

1:36.4

because Ron found a way to combine those two summary activities into one.
