The entire world used to be filled with animals very similar to the ones we find mostly in Africa today.

There used to be huge lions everywhere, massive flightless birds and alexes to ostriches,

mammoths and mastodons instead of elephants, rhinos, even hippos, just tons of large animals all over the world.

And rather suspiciously, all of these animals went extinct around the same time human spread out of

Africa. Human hunting, most likely, wiped all of them out.

And this all happened surprisingly recently. For example, as recently as 8,000 BC, there was a species of animal we call the woolly rhinoceros,

which lived throughout Europe and northern Asia.

What the mammoth is to a regular elephant, this animal is to a regular rhino.

How neat is that? A rhino covered in shaggy hair. And how cool would it be if we still had an animal like that?
