| 1:02.4 | So, Clay, tell us a little bit of the backstory that gave rise to your book. |

| 1:10.0 | As briefly as you can, covering a 20 year period. Yeah, you know, it's funny, because in |
| 1:16.8 | 1994, I decided to start working on the problem of evil. And of course, as you know, I wrote a book |
| 1:24.8 | entitled, Why Does God Allow Evil? |
| 1:28.1 | And then, you know, that didn't come out, though, until 2017. |
| 1:33.7 | So it took 23 years for that to come out. |
| 1:37.0 | But, and then I started, you know, I wrote a book on death and how we can overcome our fear of death. |
| 1:45.3 | And it just seemed like a natural thing to write on suffering. |
| 1:49.7 | Because if you've written on evil and death, why not write on suffering and put them all together? |

| 1:57.3 | And of course, we, Jeannie and I have gone through a lot of suffering. I've had cancer. |
| 2:03.5 | I just had open heart surgery 10 weeks ago. I'm fine, by the way, but it's been quite an adventure. |
