0:48.9	I invite you to turn to the Book of James in the New Testament and chapter 4.
0:59.6	We're going to read simply from verse 7 to verse 10. Submit yourselves then to
1:05.9	God, resist the devil, and he will flee from you. Come near to God, and he will
1:11.5	come near to you. Wash your hands, you sinners, and purify your heart, you double
1:17.6	mind it. Grieve, mourn, and wail. Change your laughter to mourning and your joy
1:24.9	to gloom. Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will lift you up. I just
1:33.2	have a prayer together before we turn to this. We come Lord in a spirit of
1:40.5	genuine humility to bow before you, the living God, and to open our hearts and
1:48.0	minds to your truth, the Bible. We pray for the help of the Holy Spirit, both in
1:54.2	speaking and in hearing, so that we might understand and in understanding that
1:59.4	we might trust and obey, and that you will conform as increasingly to the
2:04.8	image of your Son, the Lord Jesus Christ, in whose name we pray. Amen. Well,
2:12.8	actually, we're beginning where we left off last time, and that was we had
2:16.0	reached verse 6, and mercifully so, because the first five verses were
2:21.4	distinctly uncomfortable, challenging us in relationship to our potential
2:27.4	worldliness, confronting us with the danger of saying that we're friends of
2:32.3	God while living as friends of the world, failing to face up to the fact that
