Summary

We’re diving into the story of Ruth in session three of our Daughters study—and wow, her story is so much more than just a love story with Boaz. We talk about what it looks like to leave behind comfort and familiarity in order to follow where God is leading, even when it feels scary, uncertain, or lonely. Ruth’s brave “yes” reminds us that some of the most beautiful moves of God in our lives happen on the other side of obedience. We also get honest about friendships and relationships that get hard. Through Ruth and Naomi’s story, we unpack the power of staying faithful in unexpected relationships instead of walking away when things feel messy. Mac and Kenz even share a vulnerable story from their own friendship and how God used a difficult season to create deeper unity and trust. And finally, we talk about redemption. Ruth’s life began with heartbreak and loss, but God slowly and faithfully transformed her story through everyday obedience, humility, and trust. If you’re walking through disappointment, confusion, grief, or a season where God feels distant, this episode is a reminder that He is still writing your story—and He loves to turn broken pieces into something beautiful. And this week, we are studying Ruth.

0:20.7

I feel like Ruth is one of the most iconic women in the Bible. Iconic. Because it's a love story. Yeah. Who doesn't, who didn't want the Ruth and Boaz? Everybody was excited for this week. Dream love story growing up. True, true. You know? Yeah. Find your Boaz. I don't think I knew about the story growing up. You did it. Okay. But now. At least I didn't know exactly how it went down. But it's better than you thought. Yes. Yes. You got to read it. And we have a cool little connection point between our daughters in this one that I can't wait to share about. And it's a really cool. And I do think Ruth's story is a really, it's cool. It's like an entire book in the Bible. And we get to like really dig in. And honestly, to me, Ruth is really, really cool for the decisions that she makes.

1:11.9

Like, I don't think I could do the things that Ruth did.

1:14.8

And so I love studying her story and I love seeing what it teaches us about God's heart for us as daughters.

1:20.9

Yes.

1:21.5

So should we jump in?

1:22.8

We should jump in.

1:24.1

Ruth, our girl Ruth, her story starts pretty sad.

1:27.2

It starts with some deep loss. So she was from a

1:30.0

place called Moab. And this matters because the Moabites and the Israelites did not have the best

1:36.0

history together. They didn't really get along. But Ruth had married an Israelite man whose family

1:41.9

had moved to Moab during a famine. But then all of a sudden her husband

1:46.3

dies. And her mother-in-law, her name was Naomi and her husband, Naomi's husband, had also already

1:55.0

died. And so Naomi is left with two widow daughter-in-laws and nothing else in her life.

2:03.7

And Naomi tells both of her daughter-in-laws to go back to their own families and start over.

2:08.6

And Ruth's sister-in-law decides to do that.

2:10.7

She goes back to her own family.

2:12.0

But Ruth, on the other hand, refused.

2:15.1

And what she said to Naomi has been quoted at like weddings and special events

2:21.7

for centuries. And it's this. It's where you go, I will go. Where you stay, I will stay.
