Summary

Sex drive, religious formation, and the stubborn residue of purity culture — welcome back to Study Hall, where I bring you along as I cram for my licensure exam and connect to the psychology of religion along the way. Today we're staying in developmental psychology but moving into territory that, let's just say, came up a lot in my Christian high school years. Really, that's the most succinct way to say it. I am your host, Dr. Dan Koch. I'm a licensed therapist and occasional researcher in the psychology of religion.

0:25.6

And I liked the last study hall episode that I released.

0:30.6

That's what we decided to call it after I had recorded it.

0:33.6

So I didn't call it that at first, but I think that's a good name.

studying for our big licensure exam to become a licensed psychologist. That's the sort of terminal,

0:44.5

final form of licensure in this very long career path that I decided to embark on in my early

30s, mid-30s. And it feels good. It's a shit

0:59.1

ton of work. It's so much studying. It is hard to describe how much studying it is compared to other

1:06.0

things I've done in my life. I won't try. I just will say, I like the idea of bringing you guys along for part of the ride.

1:13.5

So I'm going to do another one of these and maybe more of them. Last time we talked about some

1:18.4

nature-nurture type questions in developmental psychology. We're going to stay in developmental

today with some other topics.

1:28.2

And just a refresher, what I'm doing here is I'm sharing with you really kind of the basic consensus

1:34.3

understanding of a handful of issues, the type of thing that I am being required to memorize fresh,

1:44.0

whether or not I initially learned it in school.

1:47.6
