Social media games, endless scrolling.

Everybody's pointing their fingers at the schools and the students.

Here's the reality.

This starts at home.

Parents set the tone, right?

Kids are allowed to stay glued to their devices all the time.

There's no enforcement.

No one teaches them self-discipline. Don't be surprised

when they're checking TikTok between math problems. Schools can't parent for you. They can't

force focus and instill values that you don't teach at home. There was a new study that came out

that said teens are using their smartphones constantly during school hours,

not just on lunch breaks, not just between classes. They're checking their phones hourly

throughout the day. About one third of the school day is spent on their phones, roughly

two hours during instructional time. I mean, this is, I'm sorry, I may be a little old

school with this thought and this opinion, but schools get to set the rules. That's the way it

works. We don't let kids tell us how to run things. And I get it. If I was 15 years old and, you know,

a sophomore in high school again in

20, 26, yeah, of course I'd want to have my phone with me. And of course, as a 15 year old, I'd be like, no, it's fine, it's cool. I can have my phone with me all day. You know, too bad. You don't get to set the rules when you're 15 years old. The adults get to set the rules. So of course, If schools feel like the phones are distracting, absolutely.
