We've been working our way into the book of Revelation.

Last week we looked at Revelation chapter 6 and the events of the six seals.

And we're going to continue that discussion this morning.

Revelation, as has been said over and over again, but I'll say it, is a Jewish book. Except

for chapters 1, 2, and 3, virtually everything that happens in Revelation is tilted

toward the establishment of the kingdom, the house of David, the priesthood of Levi. It's all tilted toward Israel. It is all built around the

premise that the church is a finite body of believers, that the church is a cyclical organism

that has gone through a number of different cycles in its life. And we've talked about that

many times in the past, the cycles of Revelation

2 and 3. And by the way, my approach to teaching Revelation is not chronological. As you read

the book of Revelation, you will notice, and I'm sure if you've read it before, you've noticed something

interesting.

Revelation is built around two verbal constructions.

One is, after these things, and I haven't counted how many after these things there

are in Revelation.

I'm going to have to do that before next week, but there are dozens. And the other one is after this. After this.

The book of Revelation is built on John's vision. After these things, after this, those two ideas

are not quite the same idea. And we'll take a little look at those later this morning.
