We are urged to be watching in anticipation.

Jesus gave those parables, you know, about the faithful servant who would be doing work

and watching for his Lord to return.

We studied the parable of the ten virgins last week, and the number 10, the number of

ordinal perfection.

In the Bible, the number 10, and just reviewing a little bit, is always indicative of some

plan that God is working.

For example, there are ten commandments.

Noah, who came from the old world into the new world, was a tenth generation down from

the creation of Adam. The Lord's Prayer, as we noted

last week, is written in 10 clauses. The tithe, one-tenth, has everything to do with the life

of Israel. Ten is also God's judgment. There were 10 plagues in Egypt, and there will be 10 days

of trouble at the time of tribulation.

Antichrist's world power has ten kingdoms.

Then we looked at the ten virgins, which represent all of Israel,

and how five of them, who were not filled with the spirit, missed the wedding.

Well, we went on and on and on about how the Bible recommends watchful waiting.

And we are watchfully waiting for Christ's return, not as an escape from this world,
