Back to Hebrews, where we have been studying for quite a while now.

We came into Hebrews sort of through the back door.

Because we had been studying the epistles of Paul, and particularly Philemon,

and the rapture of the church.

Well, the next book after Philemon is Hebrews.

So we started studying Hebrews.

And the thing about Hebrews is that it's written to the Hebrews.

And I'm not a Hebrew.

Most of us are not Hebrews.

It's not written to me.

What's it doing in the Bible?

It's written to the Hebrews.

As silly as that question sounds, it's really a question that we should all ask because

we get to eavesdrop on a conversation between a writer who is attempting to make the Hebrews

understand the gospel and an audience.

And the audience, at the time of the writing of this letter, consisted of Jewish leadership.

They were called the Hebrews because in New Testament parlance, a Hebrew is a, let's put it this way, it's a Jew with responsibility.
