We are in the faith chapter of Hebrews.

After going through Hebrews, which is the best proof in the Bible of what Jesus did with his life,

with his ministry, with his death, burial and resurrection, the author of Hebrews goes very, very minutely through all of the aspects

of Christ's sacrifice and its superiority. And then he comes to the idea of faith, and on the subject

of faith, there is no greater statement than Hebrews 11-1, which I'll repeat, we've been repeating it now for the last couple of weeks.

Faith is the substance of things hoped for the evidence of things not seen.

What that's saying is that faith enables the believing soul to treat the future as the present

and the invisible as already visible or seen.

Faith is the substance of things hoped for.

Substance is hypostasis, which is the opposite of hypothesis or theory.

We are not going on theory.

We are going on hypostasis.

That is something solid. It's the evidence of things not seen.

Evidence from the Greek Alenkovs is a word that means, it's a legal term.

It means evidence that is accepted in court.

So faith is the firmness upon which we stand of things hoped for, and it is the legal evidence of things not seen.

Jesus established things physically and legally, and that's what the whole book of Hebrews is all about. He didn't

just go halfway. He approached things from a physical viewpoint and from a legal viewpoint. He
