Hebrews, an amazing trip through Hebrews because, as I've said many times, we are eavesdropping

as Christians on the writer to the Hebrews.

He's writing to them as Jewish intellectuals who are still worshipping in the old way and

cannot decide between the old law and the finished work of Christ.

And that's what the whole book is about.

It is about the better salvation.

We had gone into chapter 12 after talking about the heroes of the faith.

And the last verse of Hebrews chapter 11 has a really interesting note in it before we move on to

12 and 13.

And it says in Hebrews 1240, God, having provided some better thing for us that they without us

should not be made perfect.

And this whole chapter has been about the heroes of the faith,

starting with Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, and so forth. All of those heroes, plus a number here

that are not even mentioned in this concluding thought, God having provided some better thing

for us, that they without us should not be made perfect.

And so when this is written, God has us in mind.

In other words, we are to be added to the list of the heroes of the faith.

And then we have an interesting note going into chapter 12,
