This morning, we're going to talk about, surprise, surprise, the rapture of the church.

We like to talk about that.

We're going to talk about 50 reasons why the teaching of the rapture of the church is valid,

and in fact essential, I think think to our spiritual lives so have your

Bibles at the ready there is a very active and a growing teaching contrary to the

idea of a pre-tribulation rapture of the church.

There are a lot of authors out there who have published books that are anti-rapture,

particularly anti-pre-tribulation rapture.

And since really the early to mid-1970s, we've seen an increase in this kind of attack against classic

pre-tribulationism.

A man by the name of Dave McPherson back in the 70s started writing.

He wrote a book called The Incredible Cover-up, another one called The Raptor Plot.

And he speaks of, well, let's put it this way, he speaks against John Nelson Darby and the brethren

who really originated, stabilized, and solidified the teaching of the pre-trib rapture starting around

1840.

And essentially what Macpherson and others say is that Darby's teaching was a confabulation taken from, among other

things, a young girl by the name of Margaret McDonald, who would regularly fall into trances and prophesy,

and another group called the Irvingites, a cult group. And so there are just numbers of ways in which
