and he was determined to stop the explosion of California educated Americans caused by the

student debt. This is a 1.5 trillion dollar drag on our economy, and that doesn't begin to

describe the damage that's been done to this country. After he destroyed low income Californians

ability to get an education in the 1970s, his first year as governor of California.

He ended free tuition at the University of California system and cut their state aid to the college

system by 20 percent right across the board, just in his first year. When he was asked why he said,

and I quote, college students are too liberal. And quote, America should not subsidize intellectual

curiosity. Like education is just, we just do it for fun, right? I mean, fully 60 percent of

the college educated vote in 2020 went to Joe Biden. Republicans have a reason to hate college.
