Hello, it's Alex Fawzai here, one of the BBC's political correspondence, and I'm sitting

in the newscast chair today because Adam, as you may know, is off on a very well-deserved

holiday. They don't tell him that I told you that.

Now this morning I was up early, having my coffee as you do, and I woke up to the pretty

horrific news about the series of Russian strikes that had taken place in Ukraine much

more widespread than we've had anything really in some time in Ukraine. And there was just

this really astonishing moment, one of those moments that makes you just sit up and really

pay attention, and it was as the BBC's Hugo Bashega was delivering a live report, so

he was actually on air in Kiev in Ukraine's capital city. He was speaking to one of the

BBC's presenters, Sally Bunduk, have a little listen to what happened.

So the fear is that this could trigger a very strong Russian response, we saw yesterday

that a residential area of the city of Zapurizia, a major city in the south of the country,

very close to the front lines, was hit.

Okay, Hugo Bashega there, I'll correspond to him in Kiev, obviously, for obvious reasons,

taking cover at that point, but just talking us through the latest on the situation with

regards to Ukraine.

Just one of those moments, and obviously you can pretty much tell just from the audio

what happened. He was delivering this report, and as he did, there was a strike that just

went overhead, and you heard the whole thing play out. A reminder, of course, what all of
