Paul, who was obviously concerned for the physical well-being of all of the people in the church,

for their wellness, and nevertheless, actually specifies his concern now not that their bodies be strengthened, but that the Holy Spirit in power

will strengthen the inner man, the inner person, what we call the soul.

To hear someone

to hear someone pray is often to get a glimpse into that person that goes beyond the

externals. You hear their heart as it were, what they truly care about. You often

hear the work of the Lord in their life as God's word has been

their meditation day and night and you now hear it on their lips in prayer.

We begin this series today in Ephesians chapter 3 at verse 14 where the apostle Paul is praying so let's consider the heart of Paul for

we are in the third chapter of Ephesians and tonight I'm going to begin at

verse 14 so I'd ask you to please stand for the reading of the word of God. For this reason I bow my

knees to the father of our Lord Jesus Christ from whom the whole family in heaven and earth is named,

that he would grant you according to the riches of his glory to be strengthened with might through the spirit in the inner man that Christ may

dwell in your hearts through faith, that you being rooted and grounded in love

may be able to comprehend with all the Saints

what is the width and length and depth and height, to know the love of Christ which passes

knowledge that you may be filled with all the fullness of God. Now to him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly
