Now we heard multiple shots.

I mean, immediately, I think we both looked at each other,

so that's gunfire.

And that's why we immediately responded to the area

because assuming somebody was either got to get shot or had been shot.

And can we prevent it, stop it, help us, and it's your job.

And that's what we did.

Today we're heading to the city of Miami, Florida,

where the most innocent victims would lose their life to a stray bullet.

It's a case where the community banded together with members of the Miami-Dade Police Department to catch a killer.

It was shocking.

You never expected child to be the victim of a gun shot,

especially out in the open, in a crowd, on a day of celebration.

That is retired Miami-Dade homicide detective Jeff Lewis.

And what we're talking about is a homicide that was caused by a stray bullet.

And they are the type of cases that really test the emotional strength of all those involved.

And it's also case that because they can sometimes be so challenging

that the police really look for and hope for help from the community.
