It's a case where the community banded together with members of the Miami-Dade Police Department to catch a killer.

especially out in the open, in a crowd, on a day of celebration.

That is retired Miami-Dade homicide detective Jeff Lewis.

And what we're talking about is a homicide that was caused by a stray bullet.

And they are the type of cases that really test the emotional strength of all those involved.

And it's also case that because they can sometimes be so challenging

that the police really look for and hope for help from the community.
