George has just written a book about the history of xenophobia,

examining the surprising origins of the term and the ways in which Western thinkers have interpreted people's fear of strangers, from the 19th century to the present day. He was

joined in conversation by BBC History Revealed's production editor, John Borkham.

So I'm delighted to be speaking here today with George McCari, who is a psychiatrist, a historian,

and also the author of a new book, of Fear and Strangers, A History of Xenophobia,

which has recently been published here in the UK by Yale University Press.
