So I've been getting a lot of requests to do more episodes reading novels or short stories.

So I thought a nice one to start off with would be Oliver Twist by Charles Dickens.

So without further ado, let's start the novel.

Chapter 1, a lonely childhood. In almost every town in England, large or small, there is one very old in plain building, a

workhouse.

People with no money, poppers, as they were called, and orphaned children with no

parents to love them were sent to these workhouses. Here they lived and worked under very poor conditions.

The food was bad and the work was hard.

The local church parish ran the workhouses through a group of men who served on a committee called a parish board.
