It's the tenth season of the show, I've got a new book out, and I'll be doing things

just a little bit differently this year.

I'll share more details about that when the time comes.

But for now, we're doing as we've done for the past several seasons, kicking off this pre-season with a ghost story.

And between now and Thanksgiving, you can look forward to episodes roughly once a week or more.

Then, as always, on Thanksgiving Day, we'll kick off the main season featuring lots of fun Christmas history and, of course, your Christmas memories.

Today, though, we're feeling spooky, and so are my friends at Bibliuasis Publishing.

That's why they're doing their part to revive that old Christmas tradition of gathering

around the fire to share a spine-tingling ghost story. It's a ritual that goes back at least

to the 18th century, and was once as

much a part of the Christmas season as decorating a tree and singing carols. During Victorian times,

many magazines printed ghost stories specifically for the Christmas season. These winter tales,

as they were called, didn't necessarily explore Christmas themes, though they sometimes did.
