Hi, everybody. It's Monica. And this is the beginning of a special series for Saturday Storytime.

I've been talking to Graham of Grimerica and they have a project called Adult Brain where

they're putting works that are out of copyright, they're reading them or having people read

them so that you can listen to it without it being AI.

And it's fun because for someone like me, because I like to read those kind of books, and I might

as well make it useful.

So Graham asked me to do a Thomas Payne book, and I was like, oh, that George Ford Smith,

who I talked to about Albert Jay Knox, he wants to talk about one of the Thomas Payne books,

and it was Age of Reason. So I said, let me just

do Age of Reason, but I hadn't read it yet. So I'm, I signed myself this book, and I told

Graham I was going to do it, and I start like getting into it. And I'm thinking, I don't really

believe what this guy is saying.

And it's kind of weird to be the one who's saying it.

But I'm not threatened by stuff I don't believe in.

So, like, I can handle it totally.

And I remember now that the reason this book was recommended

is that it kind of lays out the religious perspective

of our of the founding fathers of the U.S.

So people call it a Christian nation, whatever.

If this book represents what they thought generally as deists, then I would not call it a Christian nation. And I have heard that. That they were deists, which is basically God set the world in motion. And it's up to us to work it out with the laws and materials that he gave
